Archived Page. Please refer to the Track League 2021 page for latest information.

General Information

Track league meetings will be held on Fridays throughout the 2020 season on the resurfaced track at Gosling Sports Park. The first league meeting will be on Friday April 24th 2020.

Three open meetings are planned this year, on Friday 15th May, Friday 10th July, and Friday 11th September. These will be Regional C+ races, and be offering BC licence points. Entries will be on-line for these meetings, yet still only £10 for seniors/juniors and £5 for youths.

For Youth riders, there will be two groups based on age and experience, and we envisage most Youth A riders, riding in the Senior groups.

The track league registration fee is unchanged from last year, i.e. £10 for seniors/juniors and £5 for youth riders. Please complete the registration form at https://goo.gl/forms/1JPEm8SNDewyMhua2.

Entry fees are also unchanged at £10 per week for seniors/juniors/youths in senior events and £5 for youth events.

The number deposit remains at £5. Please return any numbers from previous seasons.

A reminder that Gosling Sports Park has parking fees; the first three hours are free, but thereafter a fee of £2 per additional hour applies, where vehicle details must be registered on departure with payment. Failure to register and pay will result in a fine. For those using the car park up to three hours, no registration is necessary.

Over the years there has been some great and highly competitive racing at Welwyn Track League, and we are hoping for good numbers again this year. We aim to promote a varied programme with special events such as keirin and possibly a Madison night subject to demand. It goes without saying that the success of the league depends on good attendances from the riders, so do your best to spread the word about Welwyn Track League.

Friday 8th May: NO EVENT (May Day Bank Holiday)
Friday 15th May: Open Meeting

Automatic accreditation will be given out to riders that have raced at recognised track events at approved indoor/outdoor velodromes within the last 3 years. Please give details of any such events in your registration form.

If you do not have the necessary racing experience to receive automatic accreditation, then you can gain accreditation at one of our Open Track Training sessions (see below).

Other Fees
There is a £5 hire deposit for racing numbers. You will keep the same number for the duration of the league. Your deposit will be returned when you return your number at your final meet.

Bike hire is available at each meet for £5 per bike, per meet. Bikes must be returned at the end of each meet.

Open Track Training

Open Track Training takes place at Gosling each Monday throughout the summer. Sessions are between 19:00 and 21:00 and are priced at £7 per session.

If you want to ride in Track League but do not have the necessary experience to gain automatic accreditation, you can attend one of these sessions to be assessed and accredited by the coaches. Riders wishing to be assessed to race The Welwyn Track League should make themselves known at sign on. Riders will be issued with a bib by the sign on team for identification purposes during the Race Training Session. If successful, riders will be able to register for Track League although will still be under initial probation at the discretion of the TL Promoter and Commissars.

These are coached training sessions, but are intended for riders that already have some track experience. If you are new to track cycling and are interested in novice training sessions, please see the What’s On page or contact trackleague@welwynwheelers.org.uk for further information.
