Allsop and Atkins winners at Basingstoke

Leon crosses the line with a bunnyhop

Katie Allsop and Leon Atkins led the way with wins at the latest Southern XC XCO MTB racing at Basingstoke on Sunday. Katie’s victory in the U12 Girls race came after she had lapped the field in the 9 lap short course race. In the Juvenile Boys race, Leon took a 1 minute lead after lap 1 which he sustained to the finish. Fin Woodliffe also had a good finish in 5th place out of the 21 riders field. Ellen Phillips ended up in a 2 rider sprint finish after nearly an hour of racing to finish in 6th place.

At the final round of the Milton Keynes Bowl Spring Series Ethan Storti had the best placing of the Wheelers, finishing 4th in the Boys Cat A race from a depleted break which had splintered on the final laps of intense racing. Dylan Starkey and Sam Gilbert led the bunch sprint home 30 seconds behind in 12th and 13th place.

Tyler Six finished 5th in the Cat Cs after spending the race in a break of 4 chasing the eventual winner who managed to lap the rest of the field on his own. Elijah Storti continued his sprinting form taking 2nd in the bunch gallop.

Rupert Cavill showed great skill in managing to stay on his bike after losing 2 spokes in a collision on lap 1 of the Boys Cat B race.

Our thanks go to Team MK for hosting this successful series and giving so many the chance to get back to road circuit racing again at the Bowl.
