The 85 riders competing in the Eastern Region Track Championships enjoyed a fine warm sunny afternoon for the final track event of the year at Welwyn.

Doug Bradshaw (Cambridge CC) opened the proceedings with a successful defence of the Individual Pursuit title but was pushed very hard by Simon Bateson of Team Economic Energy with Digby Symons (Cambridge CC) in third place.

The Senior Sprint title went to John McClelland (Agiskoviner) and he went on to defend his 10 mile scratch race title edging out Trevor Burke, Rob Cox, Simon Bateson and Phil Lisher who had broken away in the closing laps.

Cambridge CC won the 6 lap Team Pursuit from Team Welwyn and Welwyn Wheelers A team while Claire Newland won the Womens Omnium as well as being a member of the Welwyn A Team Pursuit squad.

Phil Lisher won the Junior Omnium from clubmate Tom Gosbee.

The 3 race Youth Omnium events produced some keen and competitive racing with most categories going down to the final scratch race to determine the winners.
