I think I was the only Wheeler foolish enough to be time-trialling on a weekend more suited to kite-flying and/or windsurfing. The event was the Verulam 25 on the new F2A/25 where I posted a disappointing 1:05:41.  Although the wind was clearly a factor, it didn't seem to slow down the likes of Messrs Cammish, Bowdler and Platts who were I think 1st, 2nd and 3rd (in that order) with 53s and 54s  

A few remarks on the course as I understand it is new.  The course runs on a new bit of dual carriageway between the Caxton Gibbet and Maddingley roundabouts on the A428 west of Cambridge.  The road surface is immaculate (although there was a dead fox on the course which caused the tyres to skip a bit) and there is a gentle undulation a bit like on the F1.  You do two laps of the course for a 25.  It is fairly exposed so on a windy day it is tough but all in all it is a course that should produce good times.  It took almost exactly 40 mins to get there from WGC so it is about the same distance to travel as going to Tempsford to ride the F1. The HQ is a large community sports centre about 2.5 miles from the start which has loads of parking and proper changing rooms.
