Four Welwyn Wheelers took to the F2A/10 on the A428 west of Cambridge for the Team Sanjan Design 10.  It was a full field topped off by Michael Hutchinson who won the event in what for him was a pedestrian 19:57. Claire Newland was first lady (and first Welwyn Wheeler) with 25:07.

Unfortunately it was a very windy day with a tail wind for the outward 4.5 miles and, rather unfairly, a headwind for the 5.5 miles back.  I think my experience was common to most in that I went outbound at around 30mph thinking I had hit some incredible end of year form and then crawled along the homeward leg trying desperately to get the speed above evens.

There are some excellent photos of the event on Sarah Brooke's website.  I looked at my speedo as I passed her on the outbound leg and was doing over 32mph at the time - shame I couldn't keep it going.
