Three Welwyn Wheelers teams rode the Antelope RT 3 up TTT held on good and relatively flat roads near Aylesbury. Luckily the showers which had been forecast for the afternoon didn’t appear although there was a brisk and gusting westerly wind for the teams to contend with.  The event was won by a team from Sigma Sport in the impressive time of 1.06:16 who just shaded out Shorter Rochford RT by 12 seconds.  The fastest of the three Welwyn teams was made up of Adrian Trott, David Scott and Graeme Anderson in 1:19:33.  Adrian, Dave and Graeme looked like they were on for an even better time after the first lap having the second Welwyn senior team in their sights at one point but then slowed dramatically on the second lap.  The undoubted stars were the youth team of Tom Gallagher, Andrew Street and Dan Smith whose time of 1:22:36 was only 12 seconds slower than the other Welwyn senior team of Alex Peeke, James Johnson and Tim Chandler who managed 1:22:24.  The youth team performance was particularly impressive in the windy conditions where lighter riders are at a significant disadvantage.

All the riders were very impressed by the organisation of this event from the on-line entry to the spacious HQ, prolific on-course signage and clear marshalling.  We would also like to thank Andrew Brown for travelling as a reserve for all three teams and together with Francis giving great support on the course.  Perhaps next year we could get 4 or even 5 teams together.
