I rode the cat 2/3/4 Redbridge RR on 27 July on the Matching Tye circuit just east of Harlow on a hot and humid morning.  The race set off at a furious pace from the off and a couple of unsuspecting riders got caught out and dropped in the first couple of miles.  After completing the first lap at close to 30 mph things calmed down once a break of six got established and I settled down to ride out the race in the bunch  - the speed was too high for me to try and do anything else.  The break of six was joined by another three and stayed away until the finish although the gap was dropping quickly on the last lap.  We had frequent time checks from a loud hailer in the commisaire's car which added some interest and caused the bunch to wind things up as they realised the gap was closing.  In the end Digby Symons and James Ward made it a Cambridge CC 1-2.  I dropped off the back of the bunch in the last 300m or so when I got caught behind two riders who sat up but rolled over the line and was placed 52 of 56 finishers.   

Apparently it was 67.3 miles, 2hr 40 mins, avg 25.3mph.
