I'm very much hoping that you and your clubmates will be able to join us again for our 'Ride for Roadpeace'. This is particularly relevant for us just now, as our clubmate and friend, Malcolm Boswell was killed on Christmas Eve while riding his bike in Enfield. The driver of the car that hit him did not stop. Boz, as we called him, was well known amongst London cyclists, and I'm sure many of you knew him. He would have been with us doing the teas at this event. Anyway, the details of the event are as follows. Finsbury Park Cycling Club Reliability Trial – in support of Roadpeace
Sunday February 15th 2009 – 9.00am
HQ Potters Bar Cricket Club, The Walk, Potters Bar
The Finsbury Park Cycling Club is once holding a Reliability Trial through the lanes of Hertfordshire in aid of Road peace, the organization campaigning for Road Safety and for justice for the victims of crashes caused by reckless or careless driving.
There are two routes – a 50km and a 100km – and route cards will be given out at the HQ on the day. The long route heads North, skirts Hertford and continues West between Hitchin and Stevenage. It then turns South through rolling country before returning to Potters Bar through the short sharp hills of ‘Little Switzerland’. The shorter route turns South earlier but has its share of ups and downs too. The entry fee is £3. Info from Hugh –
